Thomas father was Thomas B. Bush and mother Salley Ward, Thomas B. Bush had a leather store New Bedford 1822
Thomas was a New Bedford whaler - 1847-1851 Pacific on the Rodman - 1852-1854 3rd mate Rodman - 1855-1859 Pacific on the Newark - 1959-1863 Indian Ocean on the Newark
The Newark sank in 1863, but it is uncertain if this caused the demise of Thomas M. Bush - documents show no one died with the ship 
Letters from Thomas' whaling trips state: "Lizzy" had a sister Mary and friends R. Emilie and Mary M. Manchester - Uncle John Allen, Aunt Mallory married to Uncle Nick, Aunt Blamy (Bloomy),  Aunt Nancy, and Aunt Cathy (d. Dec 1851) 
Elizabeth remarried Southward Potter the 2nd (Jr.) of New Bedford on March 1,1865 and became Elizabeth M. Potter.
